Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a relatively painless form
of medicine that originated in China more than 5000 years
ago. It is a highly effective treatment for a wide range of
injuries and illnesses. Because of its proven rates of success,
it has been embraced throughout the world.

According to the classical doctrines of Chinese
Medicine, a continuous flow of "life energy" (Qi) moves throughout
the body. This vital energy originates in the major organs
and flows along circulatory channels called meridians. Acupuncture
is the insertion of very thin, fine needles into specific
points on the body along the meridians where energy flow can
be accessed. Acupuncture can treat hundreds of problems depending
on the combination of points used.
We practice a needling technique that is
virtually pain free. New patients often comment that they
do not feel the needles go in. Only pre-sterilized disposable
needles are used.
At MPTC we use electro-stimulation with most
conditions because it helps people to get better results with
fewer treatments. After insertion, the needles are connected
to a mild electrical current. Most patients do not feel any
discomfort with this procedure. The electro-stim aids in the
release of the body's internal chemicals, such as neurotransmitters,
endorphins, enkephalins, and hormones. These chemicals relax
muscles, release blockages, restore balance, and relieve pain,
all of which serves to heal and prevent disease.
